Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido
Since taking office in 2021, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido has led one of the most dramatic turnarounds in Michigan county government, transforming the office into a nationally award-winning operation. His team doubled victim services, recovered over $3 million in new child support, set records for faster warrant processing, and pioneered Michigan’s first policy requiring mental health screening for gun crime defendants. The team modernized operations with new technology and launched Prosecutor Pete’s Podcast, the first AI-generated podcast by a Michigan public official. The focus on accountability and transparency has made the office a model. Lucido hired a record number of women prosecutors, with women filling 70% of new positions and leading key units. The office has earned more National Association of Counties Achievement Awards than any other in Michigan. Lucido previously served in the Michigan Legislature, where he was known for bipartisan lawmaking.
